Gastric cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer and the second highest cause of cancer death globally (Globocan 2018 – World). Surgery remains the only curative therapy, while perioperative and adjuvant chemotherapy, as well as chemoradiation, can improve outcome of resectable gastric cancer. Although the benefit of radiation therapy combines with chemotherapy in gastric cancer has been established, challenges remain in providing accurate and safe radiation delivery.
To know more, on last sunday, Young Oncologists (YO) Group had a discussion about radiotherapy in gastric cancer, that included benefits, indication, planning and side effects of radiation.
We hope through this discussion which help member of YO Group to understand advantage and disadvantage of radiation therapy in gastric cancer.
